TennoCon 2024 just wrapped up on July 20, and Digital Extremes showcased a lot of things, ranging from new Warframe content to updates to their side projects. The event gave us a lot of upcoming content, like the next expansion and some fantastic new cosmetics. Those who attended also got some excellent Warframe items as a token of appreciation on the devs’ behalf. If you weren’t able to watch the whole thing, here is a quick rundown of everything that transpired in TennoCon.
SoulFrame Showcase
If you aren’t aware, Digital Extremes has been brewing another MMORPG title, Soulframe, inspired by Warframe. Instead of being set in the future, where we have to fight off various alien races, Soulframe focuses on an alternate timeline wherein our characters gain powers depending on their prosthetic arm. While it is a sister project of Warframe, this one is in a universe that will feature systems similar to the former game but with some significant alterations.
TennoCon featured a few clips of its gameplay, and it looks promising to fans. The game will also have a unique customization scene, so players should expect twists while creating their characters. Furthermore, we get a glimpse of the Eightfold, which serves as this game’s version of Warframe’s Orbiter. Players can meet their ancestors to craft, buy, and upgrade their versions of Warframe items here.
Warframe 1999 Demo Showcase
We were also finally treated to a demo video of Warframe 1999, which will showcase the proto-Warframes. Many familiar names pop up during this sequence but in their human forms. Here are all the characters that we’ve seen so far:
- Arthur = Excalibur
- Amir = Volt
- Aoi = Mag
- Quincy = Cyte-09
- Leticia = Trinity
- Eleanor = Nyx
All of them are members of an old faction called the Hex Syndicate, however, we don’t know the impact of this group on the storyline. Aside from these characters, it was revealed that DE will implement a Romance System within the game, allowing players to build a relationship with one of their teammates. We also got a glimpse of the Atomicycles in action, allowing us to execute Bullet Jumps in the game.
We also got a peek at upcoming enemies within the Warframe 1999 timeline. The first antagonistic faction we encountered was the SCALDRA, representing the Grineer. The next is Techrots, infected machines that allude to the infestation. In the clip, Protoframe Excalibur also faced off against an enemy that seems like the current version of Excalibur. Technoliches were also shown during the teaser.
Aside from these showcases, a new hacking game was also shown in Warframe 1999, which will have dire consequences upon failure. It was also revealed that Protoframe emotes will also arrive in the actual Warframe game, with an example being Excalibur transforming into Arthur. Nyx and Trinity will be updated to accommodate these new cosmetics.
Warframe Updates
Moving on to the Warframe updates, TennoCon started the main updates by introducing several new prime and deluxe variants. Only art and some clips were shown during the convention, and it has been confirmed that it’s going live in August 2024. Here are the upcoming variants coming to Warframe:
- Sevagoth Prime
- Epitaph Prime
- Exalted Shadow Prime
- Rhino Heirloom
- Maginav Prime Signa
- Caliban Deluxe Skin
- Caliban Deluxe Ephemera

- Cyte-09 Warframe
Afterward, we were treated to how the Sound Panels of Warframe are created. This was followed up by the cosplay segments, in which the best cosplayers were given various rewards. We were then given a timeline of all the upcoming conventions featuring Warframe. Here is the list of all cons and their dates:
- Gamescom on August 24, 2024
- Tokyo Game Show 2024 on September 28 to 29, 2024
- TennoCon 2025 on July 18 to 19, 2025
After all these, we were given a full rundown of what to expect in the coming three updates. Some of these are new content, while others are reworks of existing game features. Here are some of the discussed updates coming to Warframe:
- Lotus Eaters Prologue: This new expansion or questline ties up any unanswered questions in Whispers in the Wall while also connecting the current timeline to Warframe 1999.
- Caliban Rework
- Item Favorite (QoL Update)
- New Incarnons
- Companions 2.0 Rework
The devs didn’t go very in-depth on some of these points. They only mentioned that there will be huge QoL updates in the coming months. They said they would reveal more during the Tokyo Game Show 2024, so players should stay tuned.
What Did Players Get for Watching TennoCon?
DE did give Twitch drops to viewers who watched TennoLive during the live broadcast. Unfortunately, they aren’t Warframe platinum currency, but these rewards are still cool. Those who watched 30 minutes of the stream between 11:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. got an AX-52 Rifle and Saryn Prime, respectively. Unfortunately, if you missed out on the live broadcast, you won’t be able to get the drops anymore.
