Saving Backup Files
It’s super important that you keep a backup of the files you’ll replace with mods as uninstalling a mod may end up corrupting your game. Before installing a mod, make sure to keep the original game files in a separate folder so that you can swap them in and out whenever you need to go back to the vanilla experience.
Installing Mods in GTA Online
While it’s possible to mod GTA Online, Rockstar can ban accounts for this offense as it counts as cheating in the game. If you wish to mod GTA Online, you’ll need to install a mod called FiveM, which allows you to create custom servers in GTA Online without messing with the official Rockstar servers. This way, you can still play on modded servers with cheats like GTA V money boosts. Take note that if you want to play on official servers, you’ll have to uninstall the mod to make sure that your account doesnt get banned.
To install FiveM, simply head to their website and install the mod client. After downloading the client, launch the .exe file and it will automatically locate your GTA V files. Once it has verified your game files, the client will ask for your GTA V Social Club account. Log in with your Social Club and the window will close. The next time you launch FiveM, you can finally hop in on any custom server that you want.
