If you know what you’re doing you can make any build a high DPS one. That being said, the following builds are just straight-up broken in the amount of DPS they can dish out. Sure, they might cost a few Exalted Orb, but are they worth it? Absolutely! So, let’s look at what the highest DPS builds in Path of Exile are for Settlers of Kalguur.
Hexblast Occultist — 85M DPS
Yes, you read that right. This Hexblast Occultist build can dish out an astonishing 85M points of damage per second, which is just ludicrously high to even think about. For context, the Shaper, which is considered the toughest boss in the game, only has about 74.7M health points.
This means that you can one-shot the Shaper and still have a bit of damage to go around. Okay, realistically you won’t one-shot the Shaper because of resistance, but you’ll be pretty close!
The Idea Behind This Build
Hexblast by itself is a pretty simple spell to grasp. It’s an AoE spell that blasts enemies with chaos damage and has a chance of igniting, freezing, or shocking them. The cherry on top is that the damage Hexblast deals scales with the number of hexes the enemy has on them.
That’s why this build specializes in two things, immobilizing and hexing the enemy and then blowing them sky-high with Hexblast. Here’s what sort of perks you’ll need for this build
Recommended Perks For Hexblast Occultists
Starting off with the Ascendancy perks, you absolutely must have:
- Void Beacon
- Withering Presence
- Unholy Authority
- Forbidden Power
Of these, Unholy Authority is the most crucial as it allows you to hex hexproof enemies. Now let’s look at the passive perk tree.
- Eldritch Battery
- Inner Conviction
- Mind Over Matter
- Pain Attunement
- Critical Mastery
- Mine Mastery
- Charge Mastery
- Reservation Mastery
- Sovereignty
- Arcane Potency
- Disciple of the Forbidden
- Throatseeker
- Efficient Explosives
- Doom Cast
- Devastating Devices
- 2x Large Cluster Jewel Sockets
- 4x Medium Cluster Jewel Sockets
When acquiring jewels, try to go for those that give you a global critical strike multiplier increase as well as a mine damage increase.
Ideal Loadout For Hexblast Occultist
When acquiring items for this build, try and get a good mix of items that give you elemental resistance increases, and global critical strike modifier increases. If you don’t have the resources for it, feel free to buy PoE currency and get yourself the items you need. Here’s what an ideal loadout should look like:
- Devoto’s Devotion Nightmare Bascinet
- Restless Ward Carnal Armour
- Void Battery Prophecy Wand
- Malachai’s Loop Harmonic Spirit Shield
- Sorrow Vise Conjurer Gloves
- Ralakesh’s Impatience Riveted Boots
- Graven’s Secret Cloth Belt
- Badge of the Brotherhood Turquoise Amulet
- Circle of Nostalgia Synthesised Amethyst Ring
- Rage Circle Synthesised Diamond Ring
In addition to those items, you’re also going to want to go with the following flasks: Life Flask, Bottled Faith Sulphur Flask, Quicksilver Flask of the Cheetah, Diamond Flask of Penetrating, and a Bismuth Flask of the Crystal.
Flicker Strike Slayer — 9.8M DPS
Here is a slightly more reasonable but just as broken build—the Flicker Strike Slayer, capable of dishing out a whopping 9.8M points of damage per second.
Similarly to the last build, the point of this build is to accumulate as much physical damage increases and critical strike multipliers as the game will allow you, only to unleash it in one fatal combo.
The Flicker Strike Combo
Flicker Strike may be the star of the show in this build but it isn’t the cornerstone. The cornerstone of this build is its supporting gem structure. Mainly the Melee Physical Damage Support, Brutality Support, Multistrike Support, Ruthless Support, and Increased Critical Damage Support gems.
Only after you’ve acquired all of those gems can you unlock the full potential of this particular build. If you have, here is how you should spec it out.
Perk Specs For Flicker Strike Slayer
Ascendancy perks are the most important so naturally, we start with those.
- Bane of Legends
- Masterful Form
- Impact
- Brutal Fervour
All of these are essential so don’t skip on any of them. And here’s how your passive perk tree should look like:
- Unwavering Stance
- Attack Mastery
- Charge Mastery
- Mana Mastery
- Physical Mastery
- Rage Mastery
- Reservation Mastery
- Disciple of the Slaughter
- Savagery
- Art of the Gladiator
- Bravery
- Eagle Eye
- Golem’s Blood
- Dismembering
- Bastion Breaker
- Champion of the Cause
- Tribal Fury
- Bloodless
- Veteran’s Wrath
- Juggernaut
- Harpooner
- Disemboweling
- Counterweight
- Devotion
- Sovereignty
- Purity of Flesh
- Blunt Trauma
- 2x Large Cluster Jewel Slots
This build primarily focuses on perk points and less on jewels. If you do go ahead with acquiring jewels, make sure that they increase your physical damage and critical strike multiplier.
The Ideal Items For This Build
As with the perks and gems, the ideal items for this build are the ones that maximize your physical damage and crit multipliers. Survivability is a secondary priority. Here’s what an ideal set of gear would look like for this build:
- Abyssus Ezomyte Burgonet
- Farrul’s Fur Triumphant Lamellar
- Cane of Kulemak Serpentine Staff
- Asenath’s Gentle Touch Silk Gloves
- Bramble Goad Goliath Greaves
- The Magnate Studded Belt
- Carnage Heart Onyx Amulet
- Onslaught Turn Unset Ring
- Mind Coil Two Stone Ring
The flask array is a bit special for this build. For optimal results make sure to pick up an Enduring Hallowed Hybrid Flask of Convection, A Specialist’s Quicksilver Flask of the Pangolin, a Progenesis Amethyst Flask, a Lion’s Roar Granite Flask, and a Practitioner’s Sulphur Flask of the Rainbow.
Vaal Ice Nova Hierophant – 6.7M DPS
This last build is a bit more reasonable compared to the previous two but no less powerful. The Vaal Ice Nova Hierophant.
It’s a powerful one-two build that’s useful for most situations, regardless of whether you’re mapping or farming bosses. The crux of the build lies in its two-spell combo.
The Frostblink + Vaal Ice Nova Combo
Frostblink and Vaal Ice Nova are the two key spells in this build, along with their supporting gems that is. You can always run it without Frostblink, but your utility and survivability will be seriously impaired if you do so, hence why it’s better to run it with than without.
Like many other builds, the combo with this one starts by popping flasks, then Frostblink, and then spamming Ice Nova until everything on the screen is dead. Here are the perks you’ll need to pull this build off efficiently.
Ice Nova Hierophant Perks
The Ascendancy perks you’ll need for this build are:
- Divine Guidance
- Sanctuary of Thought
- Conviction of Power
- Arcane Blessing
Once you have those you can move on to the passive perks.
- Inner Conviction
- Mind Over Matter
- Mana Mastery
- Caster Mastery
- Charge Mastery
- Leech Mastery
- Dreamer
- Righteous Decree
- Discipline and Training
- Light of Divinity
- Endurance

- Prodigal Perfection
- Hex Master
- Light Eater
- Written in Blood
- Steeped in the Profane
- Nimbleness
- Mind Drinker
- Infused
- 2x Large Cluster Jewel Sockets
As with the previous build, perks play a much larger part in this build than jewels. If you do decide to go for jewels, try to find jewels that increase your critical strike multiplier and cold damage multiplier to gain the most out of this build.
Perfect Loadout For This Build
Because this build uses Mind Over Matter, you’re going to want to look for items that increase your available Mana pool. Increasing your spell and elemental damage is only a secondary priority with this build. Ideally, you should have the following items:
- Kitava’s Thirst Zealot Helmet
- Cloak of Defiance Lacquered Garb
- Void Battery Prophecy Wand
- Malachai’s Loop Harmonic Spirit Shield
- Sorrow Claw Martyr Gloves
- Ralakesh’s Impatience Riveted Boots
- Graven’s Secret Cloth Belt
- Badge of the Brotherhood Turquoise Amulet
- Cataclysm Loop Saphyre Ring
- Anathema Moonstone Ring
The flask array for this build isn’t anything special. Just make sure to take a Flask of the Curlew, a Flask of the Cheetah, a Flask of Incision, a Flask of the Tree Moss, and a Flask of the Pangolin.
